Leadership Workshop: Managing Mental Illness in the Workplace

A leader's role can feel particularly demanding when, in addition to the full range of regular tasks, they are faced with the responsibilities of dealing with staff with mental health issues.

Health Promotion and WorkLife Services (HPaWS) is pleased to present the two-hour workshop "Managing Mental Illness in the Workplace". The goal of this session is to increase knowledge, comfort and ability in recognizing and managing issues related to mental health in the workplace.

Individuals working in a managerial capacity are invited to register for this workshop intended to provide an interactive experience where ideas, strategies and challenges can be discussed openly by the group.

Please register online at The Learning Shop and send a Speed Code to HPaWS (hpaws@ualberta.ca) to confirm your seat. Twenty-five dollars will be billed directly to your department only in the event of a failure to attend, or if a course drop is received the day before the workshop or later.

October is Canada's Healthy Workplace Month. This year's theme is 'Fostering Healthy Minds at Work...the mental health connection'. Mental Illness Awareness Week (October 6-12) is celebrated annually to raise awareness and end the stigma associated with mental illness.
